Hi, I’m Ethan Fritsch-Morrison — an actor, screenwriter, and filmmaker based in Sydney, Australia.

I’ve been acting in short films since 2020, and I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Arts Screen: Production at AFTRS. My journey into storytelling began through performance, but quickly expanded into writing and directing — drawn to character-driven narratives that explore emotion, identity, and survival.

In 2022, I wrote, directed, produced, and acted in my debut short film Soul Haven, which won Best 1st Time Director and Best 1st Time Producer at the New York International Film Awards, and Best Actor in an Indie Film at the Los Angeles Film Awards.
My follow-up short film Under The Trees, which I co-wrote, co-directed, co-produced and starred in, is set for release in 2025.

As both an actor and filmmaker, I’m drawn to honest, emotionally charged stories — the kind that make you feel seen. Whether I’m in front of the camera or behind it, my goal is always the same: to create something that moves people.

One of the most meaningful and enduring creative partnerships I’ve formed is with fellow actor and filmmaker Ellessandra Hills. We met in 2020 while training at the Screen Actors Studio at NIDA, where we instantly connected, both professionally and as friends.

Our first project together was Soul Haven, my debut short film, where Ellessandra came on board as Unit Production Manager and 1st AD. Her insight, organisation, and sensitivity played a vital role in bringing the film to life — helping me navigate the production process with confidence as a first-time director and producer.

From there, our collaboration expanded with Under The Trees, a film we co-wrote, co-directed, co-produced, and starred in. It pushed us both to grow as storytellers, and allowed me to explore more ambitious creative territory with the support of someone who shares my instincts and drive.

I value collaboration deeply and working with someone who matches my level of commitment and care has helped me hone my voice as a filmmaker. Ellessandra remains a trusted creative partner, and I’m proud of the work we’ve built together — and of the skills I continue to develop through our shared process.

I’ve known I wanted to be an actor since I was four years old. I was sitting in front of the TV watching Barney & Friends, completely drawn in by the kids who got to sing, laugh, and go on little adventures with a giant purple dinosaur.
I turned to my mum and asked, “How do I get inside the TV like them?” She told me, “They’re actors.” I didn’t fully understand what that meant at the time — but I understood enough. From that moment on, I knew I wanted to be part of that world.

As I grew older, that curiosity became something deeper — not just a desire to perform, but a need to express, to understand people, and to explore the human experience through story.
Acting was my first love, but over time I became just as drawn to what happens behind the camera. I started writing, directing, and producing — not because I wanted more control, but because I wanted to be part of every stage of the storytelling process.
